As a small design shop, Metaleap proved that we have what it takes to tackle a project of this magnitude, putting out a product that is distinctive, with as much energy as the city it represents, and all within a timeline that some thought was impossible. And before we started working on the actual issue redesign, we first developed three versions of the redesigned book! That included mastheads, type grids, navigation systems, and the rest, in order for Washingtonian to better discern just how ‘edgy’ they wanted to get.
It was an impossible task on paper, but over the course of five breakneck months we strategized and plotted the redesign of Washington D.C.’s city magazine, a website overhaul, and a brand new travel guide for our nation’s capital. The most daunting and comprehensive title we’ve worked on to date—clocking in at a whopping 288 pages.
