Redesign of Georgia’s largest state school Alumni magazine

Georgia State University’s alumni magazine is distributed quarterly to all students, faculty, staff, alumni and other members of the vast Georgia State community. In need of a total overhaul—from trim size to page count, to a general editorial review—the editors of Georgia State University Magazine asked Metaleap to help them better tell a variety of stories from the school’s uniquely diverse community. The resulting redesign brought a new world of colorful photos, clever illustrations, and eye-catching typography to its readers. Metaleap also had the pleasure of designing each issue of the magazine for several years after the redesign was completed.

The gift of our work with leading educational institutions such as Georgia State is the opportunity to create something great across both print and digital. We have to think not simply about the publication design, but also about the accompanying digital strategy that will advance compelling content through social media channels and beyond. To do this well, we help clients like Georgia State to get really clear on their audience (through research, discovery, and interviews) and put clear language around the problem you need to solve. We distill that into a clear and actionable plan—and execute this on time and on budget. We have worked on a range of educational institution branding and educational publication design for clients like Stony Brook School, Columbia Theological Seminary, and Wheaton College.
